Arthouse founder and director
P Segal, is a writer, Proust scholar, restaurateur, and therapist, who was a founder of Burning Man and the author of Proust Said That, the zine that launched an international Proust revival. The SBA credited her restaurant, Caffe Proust, with the revitalization of the Western Addition neighborhood that became NOPA. A San Francisco native, she’s been hailed as a local legend, and all of her projects have received international press.
Nancy Frank
BFA, MFA San Francisco Art Institute
Director of La Mamelle, the Bay Area nonprofit that archived the work of local artists and musicians over two decades, Nancy photographed many of the most iconic performances
in San Francisco music history. The Pacific Film Archive received the La Mamelle archives when the nonprofit closed. A seminal figure in the South of Market art scene, she was part of legendary performance art productions at the Art Motel. For many years, she’s run her own public relations firm, Frank Relations.
Alex Segal
BFA Art Center College of Design, MFA Otis Art Institute
Primarily a painter, Alex has had two careers in the fine arts,the scond as a classical music reviewer for national publications. He was represented for years by the Leslie Sacks Gallery in Brentwood, where his work appeared in shows of Modern Masters.
Catherine Van Hoesen
BM Julliard, MM Eastman School of Music
Ms. Catherine Van Hoesen is a 42-year member of the violin section of the San Francisco Symphony. She has been heard as soloist with many fine orchestras including the Rochester
Philharmonic, the Baltimore Symphony, and the Sun Valley Summer Symphony. She is an enthusiastic and internationally known teacher, and her students hold positions in orchestras throughout the world. She is a proud to be on the board of ArtHouse and to support the artistic community of San Francisco.
K Rolph Morales
CCSF, BA/BS UC Berkeley; MA/MS/PhD Stanford University; CSU - education credentials.
San Francisco artist and SFUSD and Bay Area educator, Ms. Morales’ extensive background in cultures and languages inspires her interest in creativity, social and eco-consciousness, idealism and justice, and sustainable urban communities.
Erik Van Loon
BA, the Willem de Kooning Academy, Rotterdam
Erik, an international artist, produces many large-scale art events in both The Netherlands and the US. He is currently producing the Los Angeles Poetry Beach Festival, gathering poets across the United States for an event inspired by Kerouac and Patchen.
