First of all, thanks to all you lovely people who tried to donate to ArtHouse SF recently! However, as you may have noticed, it didn’t work.
The reason your generosity was thwarted is this: We’re in the last stages of switching from a fiscally sponsored organization to having our own 501(c)3 nonprofit status., and we can’t receive donations until we get that official letter from the government that says we’re eligible to get tax-deductible donations.
It could hardly be a worse time to not receive donations because the process of getting our own nonprofit status is a deluge of fees. However, we are in the process of setting up a Memorandum of Understanding with the excellent company that handles our receipt of donations, Every.org, which will enable them to receive donations and hold them for us until we get the official government okay to collect. They’re also the people who will send you an official document for your taxes. Of course getting the Memorandum set to go is a process in itself, but it will be in place very soon. We’ll let you know as soon as we do and hope you’ll come back and try again.
